Shear strength of silty soils stabilized with fluidized bed ash

Keywords: fluidized fly ash, composite, angle of internal friction, cohesion
Abstract:

The paper presents the results of tests of shear strength of clayey coarse silt and fluidized fly ash after hard
coal combustion at the “Połaniec” Power Plant as well as composites made of silty soil mixed with the addition
of 10 and 40% (by weight) of fluidized fly ash. It was found that along with the increase in compaction,
the values of the angle of internal friction and cohesion of the tested materials increased, and the saturation
of the samples reduced the shear strength parameters. On the other hand, increasing the addition of the ash
caused an increase in the tested parameters in relation to the silty soil.
