GEOTECHNICAL INTERACTION OF STRUCTURES IN UNDERGROUND SPACE – REDEFINITION OF THE REQUIREMENTS

Abstract: The paper presents the problem of geotechnical interaction of structures constructed in underground space. The national practice in Poland is to use the ITB recommendations No. 376/2002 to assess the impact of a new investment. Nowadays, for more accurate prediction of displacements, the use of advanced numerical methods is necessary; they are taking into account the unloading of the ground, as well as the stress-dependence of stiffness. This and the new experiences from the construction of the II metro line, creates the need for revision of previous findings and partial review of requirements. The aim is to revise and update the ITB recommendations in the field of deep excavation execution and tunneling activities.
