INFLUENCE OF FINES CONTENT ON CONSOLIDATION AND COMPRESSIBILITY CHARACTERISTICS OF GRANULAR SOILS
Keywords: cohesionless soils, fines content, compressibility
Abstract: Fines content differentiates the behavior of soils which from classification point of view are between cohesive and cohesionless and therefore are perceived as the transistional soils and difficult to describe. The paper presents test results of 5 granular soils of various fines content ranging from 10 to 97%. Consolidation and compressibility characteristics were considered. Analysis of test results made possible formulation of conclusions concerning tendencies in change of compressibility characteristics with fines content change.
