Delay factors in execution of design & build construction projects

Abstract:

One of the most advantages of the design and build system of construction projects is reduction of the time
required for the investment process. Choosing one contractor, and thus integrating design and construction
stages, ensures better coordination and reduces problems with work implementation. Any construction
project, even one that is excellently planned and organized, is prone to the risk of unforeseen events and problems,
which – in effect – can cause delays in works completion. The article presents the results of research
conducted among the investment process participants. One attempt was to identify and assess potential causes
of delays arising at the design stage of the integrated design and build construction projects.
